Cave in to a fabulous Antiparos vacation

A short drive from Chora is the legendary Cave of Antiparos. Crammed with history, the cave is 330 feet deep and was once used as a refuge for ancient Macedonian generals who were hiding from Alexander the Great. There are over 400 steps down to the main cave, which is famous for its many stalactites and stalagmites, the oldest of which is 45 million years old. It also has signatures of famous visitors, including poet Lord Byron. While you’re here, don’t miss a peek into the beautiful, 18th-century chapel of Agios Ioannis Spiliotis next door.
